Last weekend's digital painting/char design: The Villain. Tried pushing the lighting a bit more on this one, adding a fg fireplace as a lightsource... and the moon as the rim. Pretty happy with the outcome! Finding more and more ways to mix my two loves of cg lighting and digital painting.

Here's a quick painting that I did this past weekend. Always great to sit down and just work on something random like this. Andrea had some great ideas for this yellow/green willow tree sketch, but somehow I ended up with another character sketch. With our baby girl on the way in a month, I think we both have all these images of our cute little girl. Hope you like it!

Swamped with work these days. New website is almost done, constantly working on vis dev drawings on the cintiq after work, and best of all, preparing for our first little baby girl in May! I can't show alot of the drawings that i'm working on right now, but here's one I came up with for a friend at work, for an upcoming pitch.

So I haven't done any drawing in quite sometime due to my crazy work schedule. This is something I started probably 2 weeks ago in an evening, and I havent gone back to. Thought I could at least share this. Concept was going to be this guy about to be hanged, and the executioner being 1/4 his size, scared and holding up the noose. Maybe i will get back to it one day. Use your imagination about how the executioner would look. haha.

Sat down last night and needed to draw something. Here's the outcome. Andrew Millstein, GM of disney. I actually just drew his head, and had no idea where to place him. I was watching lost at the same time, and the way i had his head streaked forward, i thought maybe i would put him on a jungle vine.. but it didnt make sense, so i thought maybe he would be like king kong, swatting off planes.. which didnt make sense either. so i just put him hanging off the top of the animation building.. why you ask? no idea.. thought it would be interesting/fun. And isnt that the whole point in the end?

We have a caricature show coming up in a few weeks at work. So I came up with this idea of the co-directors being "Tangled" up, as they are working on story boards and drawings. I just thought it would be an interesting image, and I think the final result was pretty pleasing. Hope you enjoy! Now back to catching up on "Lost", as Andrea and I are only starting on Season 3. Then onto watching the gold medal hockey game between US and Canada. Go Canada Go!

I'm back! Well i never really went anywhere, but i definitely haven't posted in a very long time. I think it's about time I start posting some of my sketches again. Looking for some inspiration, I turned to "Parks and Recreations", and found alot of interesting characters to draw. I hope this will be a start to a couple more from that show. If anyone has caricature suggestions out there.. feel free to let me know! I'll see if I can break free from the realism and add a little more fun to the next one.

Some WIP for the princess drawing. I basically started off with rough sketches off the reference, then stripped it down to its simplest lines without losing the most important features. I think the "disney" eyes were the only thing I had to really cartoonize.
